Is there another Dr. King out there?

In the past week we have been learning about MLK and what he has done. We have been learning what it is to be a leader, and how he was a leader. We have also learned the reasons people respected him and why they did. Martin Luther kind lead nearly thousands of people in protest to prove something to the world, and that is something I think that is extremely honorable, and brave. I do believe without him that the world would be a completely different place then it is today.

1. Do you think that there would have been has many movement for people in poverty or for African Americans if there wasn’t a Martin Luther King. Why?

2. Do you think any body else had the potential to be another Martin Luther King and to lead like he did? If so who?

I think that things would have been very different if Martin luther King hadn't been alive. He was such a powerful motivational speaker that he ahd great power to influence people. Also he lead the non-violent protesting and I believe that if he hadn't been there then there wouldn't be someone to stop the violence and set evryone back in line. I think that the protests wouldn't have been as effective if it was violent because more people would have been killed and things would have gotten worse. Dr. king was there to change things in the way that he knew was morally right. if it hadn't been for him there might not have been someone strong enough to take charge and lead the people. And maybe a more corrupt or bad leader would have been there and could have done a lot of bad stuff. He was the right man at the right time, and I don't think anyone else couldn't have done
what he did, or as effectively.

No, I don't think there would have been as many people apart of the movement if Dr. King wasn't there. Who would have movivated the blacks to fight like he did? He is an irreplaceable figure in history, in my opinion. I'm willing to bet that people were apart of the Civil Rights Movement just because Dr. King was the head of it. Just look at what he did for the African American people, and not only in Alabama, but all over the U.S. He made kids kids have it in their minds that it was ok to go to jail, and that is power. He earned trust of thousands of people and inpired millions.

I think there were people with the potential like Dr. King, yes. But I also think that just because they had the potential, doesn't mean that they would risk them and their families lives like did. I think that Dr. King just had the guts to do it, even though there were others that could. I think that was the main difference.

MLK definatly layed a pathway not only for African Americans, but for all people. He had such a powerful influence over the black community that he had the oppourtunity to make the changes that he did. Today, i think that a somewhat "average" person, (compared to celebrities) like MLK would be very hard to acheive these days. If there was to be another MLK I think that it would have to be someone who was already in the limelight such as a singer or actor. Todays society really doesn't care, and i think it would be so much harder to get people motivated for change unless someone they look up to (such as a celebrity) is encouraging them to do so. Without MLK I think that things never would have really gotten done. The little protests here and there, but it obviously took someone with great presence and power to take charge and lead actually get people started, get it moving. Without MLK, who else knows where we'd be now.

I do think there would have been many movements against the discrimination that African Americans have endured and the poverty level if there wasn’t a Dr. King. He was an exceptional human being, but I do believe that if he didn’t come along there would have been someone who stood up against the racism as he did. There would have been a day were someone would have just gotten so sick of their life because of their skin color or for their financial status and did something about it. I don’t think that things would be done in the exact same way as Dr. King did though.
I do think someone out there has the potential to do great things like Dr. King did, and I have no idea who. But I believe that when the problem showed its self to that person, they would show themselves to the world and discontinue the problem.

I think that if there wasn’t a Dr. Martin Luther king around than the world that we live in today would be very different. His role as a leader against poverty and injustice made him have the legacy that we still admire today. I’m sure that there would have still been movements going on to receive equal rights but I do not believe that they would have been as peaceful. I believe that if there wasn’t a Martin Luther King than there would have been the problem of having blacks hating whites and whites hating blacks instead of Martins approach which was simply peaceful demonstrations.
I think that there would have probably been another leader to lead the civil rights movement and the war on poverty, but I do not believe that he or she would have done a better job because other leaders such as Malcolm X, and political parties such as the black panther party would have fought fire with fire instead of seeking sympathy from the media like Martin did.

I believe that things would have been different if it would have been someone other than Martin Luther King. Everyone has different ways of solving his or her problems. Martin Luther King took a more liberal route to solving those problems that people faced in America. Some people handle their problems in a nonviolence way and some choose to be violent. Martin Luther King took a chance on nonviolence hoping it would not lead to violence. His unbelievable leadership lured thousands of people to join and help the struggle. He was a man who did not take “No” for an answer and would face an obstacle head on. He showed no fear. Martin Luther King was a unique individual that inspired a nation to be better then it was.
No one has the potential to be Martin Luther King. He caught the attention of many people. He opened the eyes of the people that were supposed to be protecting the people through the constitution. He stopped at nothing.
Everyone has the potential to lead like Dr. King did. A leader is a guide or director of people. I believe that many people have the potential for greatness. Not many would be able to lead as well as he did.
